Personal:

I am a former collegiate football player (offensive lineman) who took up running to lose weight, and in the process I have become addicted! I started running at 290 lbs.  I am married and we are expecting our first child in September 2014.

First 50 mile race, and it was a challenge! It was in the middle of nowhere west of tooele, and ran on a dirt road West, along the old pony express trail. It was mind numbing and incredibly difficult.

I think the hardest part was the fact that there are not many natural hiking spots, and you feel like you should be running the entire race. Which made it easy to get discouraged.

The other difficult part about the course is that there isn't much to look at, just desert and more desert!

Anyways, had some blister problems pretty early, but they were manageable. I was probably about an hour slower than I wanted to be, mainly because of my mental weakness. Anyways, great experience and a well run race. Look forward to building from here!
