Personal: I am a former collegiate football player (offensive lineman) who took up running to lose weight, and in the process I have become addicted! I started running at 290 lbs. I am married and we are expecting our first child in September 2014. |

| As good as last Saturday went, today I was expecting more of the same. It wasn't. Oh well . . . . GI issues, soar legs that could never get going and a headache. At least I got some miles in.

| Steady build up for the first 30 min, then 30 min of tempo with the goal being to be under 8:00 min/miles. Happy to say I hit it, and then finished off so it was an even 4 miles. After the 8 mile run I went down to watch pick up basketball for a minute and ended up getting recruited to play (in my short shorts and running shoes) I pretty much dominated and am counting that for 1 mile.

| When I got up this morning the last thing I wanted to do was run a marathon. I was the least excited for a race that I can remember. The only goal was to be faster than last year, which wasn't hard :) For the first 17 miles I felt like absolute mud in motion. I couldn't get it going and was terrified of the final 9, which in years past had eaten me alive. This year that didn't happen! I was able to finish strong all the way through ogden canyon, and I had a stretch miles 22-25 where my splits were 8:28, 8:15, 8:09, 8:40. I couldn't hold it for the last mile but still finished strong. I passed so many people through the canyon and on the parkway, it was awesome! Anyways, I hope this can propel me into a good summer marathon, with a possible best time in the fall! |

| Nothing was normal today. It was filled with fishing, work, grave visiting, 5 hours of yard work between my house and my parents place (which included about 35 wheelbarrow sprints up a hill for me). All these crazy activities led to me not running and also over eating at dinner. So about 10 min ago I decided that I really wanted to live up to my goal and run every day but Sunday this week, which means I ran a mile around my neighborhood. Hooray . . . ,
