Personal: I am a former collegiate football player (offensive lineman) who took up running to lose weight, and in the process I have become addicted! I started running at 290 lbs. I am married and we are expecting our first child in September 2014. |

After the PT session today we have a good idea about what is going on . . . . The PT feels that it all goes back to the IT band injury and that while I was recovering my left leg began to overcompensate for the injury to the right leg. That overcompensation has led to my left leg being much stronger than my right, and my right hamstring has gotten WEAK. In fact, the PT measured my left quad and compared it to my right . . . The left quad was over 4 centimeters bigger than the right! Now, the good news is I can still run, I just have to continue to cut the miles and strengthen the weak quad. Once I am balanced the problem should fade away! Now it is time to get patient! After the PT session I went for a short workout, banged out 6 miles. Now that I know it is a strength issue, it is a lot easier to focus on pushing off equally, and I expect the shorter efforts will help me while I mix in the PT. | Comments(1) |
